Uses of applications and devices that we would never have dreamed possible are now everyday reality for us all. We have come to rely on laptop computers, hand held devices, IPODs and mobile telephones to manage our day to day lives.

In the UK, the IT industry employs 5% of all workers. Within the UK economy, over 75% of people now use IT as part of their job role. Use of IT is particularly important for over 90% of managers, professionals, secretarial and administrative staff.

Drivers for change in the sector include:-

  • As the use of IT becomes increasingly important as a key driver of business competitiveness.
  • Increasing emphasis is placed on the development of skills, such as relationship management, project and programme management, change management, networking and risk management.
  • The development of IT is a dispersed Global business.
